- MAMMOTH KNOLLS SNOWSHOE OUTING – Sunday, January 6 – Snowshoers, please join us for our first snowshoe outing of the year! We will do a short, leisurely out and back trip to the highest point in the Knolls. Following the restored Blue Diamond route, we will begin at the Scenic Loop Road (elevation c. 8000 ft.), then leave the route to climb to the high point (elevation c. 8750 ft.), with excellent views of the White and Sierra Mtns. If time and conditions permit, we will continue a short distance to the next “bump” with fine views of the Sierra and the town of Mammoth. Approximately 3 miles r.t. Dress in layers for winter conditions, and bring snacks, lunch, water, sunscreen, camera. Skiers welcome, but we will be traveling at a snowshoer’s pace. Well behaved dogs welcome. Meet in the Union Bank parking lot in Mammoth, opposite Von’s at 10AM. We will carpool to the trailhead. Abominable weather will cancel. For information, contact Dick and Joanne (firstname.lastname@example.org; 760-709-5050).
